Lowe's aimed to revolutionize the smart home market with Iris, their IoT solution designed to streamline home management and security. They enlisted me, while at STA Digital, to lead the design efforts for the Iris smart home app, which would serve as the central hub for controlling and monitoring various smart home devices. My role was to create prototypes and high-fidelity visual designs for the core app screens and components, ensuring a seamless user experience across both iOS and Android platforms. The challenge was to design intuitive interactions that would make the complex process of adding and managing smart devices simple and accessible for users of all technical backgrounds. I began by articulating complex design strategies to non-technical team members, ensuring everyone was aligned on the project goals. I also conducted extensive user testing to measure the effectiveness of our designs, particularly focusing on the ease of adding and connecting devices. This data-driven approach allowed us to continuously refine the user experience, making the app more user-friendly and efficient.
